Ingredients

  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons of corn starch
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • ½ a cup of sugar
  • ¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla or chocolate extract

Instructions

  • Firstly, start by whisking the eggs in a bowl until they increase in size and become lighter in color. When the eggs are whisked enough, add in the cornstarch and about ¼ cup of the milk and whisk everything well together.
  • Start preparing your chocolate sauce by placing a saucepan on medium heat containing the sugar, cocoa, salt, and remaining milk. Just when the mix starts forming small bubbles and before it starts to boil, remove the saucepan from the heat and start pouring its content gradually on the eggs while whisking without stopping. It’s important not to stop whisking to avoid the cooking of the eggs from the heat of the chocolate sauce.
  • Return everything back to the saucepan and place it back on medium-high heat until the pudding boils. That’s when you will lower the heat for it to simmer. Here the pudding starts to thicken and become an actual pudding.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat when it thickens enough. For the final touch, add in the vanilla extract for the extra flavor and start pouring the contents in serving cups and cover them with plastic wrap to avoid the formation of skin on top. Chill for 1-2 hours. Enjoy!
