The word ‘Dehydrate butter‘ is not the most correct word when it comes to dehydrating fats, or butter in particular, since it already doesn’t have much moisture content. However, powdered butter is possible and that’s done by processing milk solids with the butter.

How to use dehydrated butter?

  • You can mix it with mashed potatoes.
  • Use it in baked goods.
  • Add it to the pancake mix.
  • Make honey butter by mixing it with honey.
  • Spread it on toast, muffins, or bread.
  • Use it as a popcorn topping with other spices.
  • Add it to your macaroni and cheese.
  • Sprinkle on top of hot, cooked veggies.

Can you dehydrate butter at home?

Yes. You can totally and easily do so.

Here are all the steps you need to dehydrate your own butter at the comfort of your own home:

  1. Start by melting two pounds of butter.
  2. Add in two cups of milk powder, then two cups of water.
  3. Mix well, then place the mixture on the dehydrator trays and move them to the dehydrator.
  4. Allow the mix to dehydrate, and check it every one hour.

The better the quality of the used ingredients, the delicious the dry butter will be.

Powdered butter can be made easily out of dehydrated butter. All you need to do is just grind the butter that was previously placed in the dehydrator. This will lead to the removal of the small amount of water left inside the fresh butter.
