Did you know that you can make your own delicious, tasty, and mouthwatering homemade Chocolate pudding?
In fact, it’s made of the simplest ingredients that you can easily find in your pantry. Easy, simple and needs literally zero effort. What are you waiting for!
One more cool fact about this pudding is that you can take it for picnics, as a gift to a friend, or for a birthday. My point is, it won’t be a hustle taking it from one place to another. You can enjoy it on its own, or you can add some sweet marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate chips. It’s really up to you how you want to enjoy this fancy delicacy!

The special trick about this recipe is the use of eggs as a thickener in addition to the cornstarch. The eggs give a rich and smooth taste to the pudding in a way that resembles the French custard, add this flavorful taste to the chocolate in the pudding and you will have yourself the perfect dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons of corn starch
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • ½ a cup of sugar
  • ¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla or chocolate extract

Instructions

  • Firstly, start by whisking the eggs in a bowl until they increase in size and become lighter in color. When the eggs are whisked enough, add in the cornstarch and about ¼ cup of the milk and whisk everything well together.
  • Start preparing your chocolate sauce by placing a saucepan on medium heat containing the sugar, cocoa, salt, and remaining milk. Just when the mix starts forming small bubbles and before it starts to boil, remove the saucepan from the heat and start pouring its content gradually on the eggs while whisking without stopping. It’s important not to stop whisking to avoid the cooking of the eggs from the heat of the chocolate sauce.
  • Return everything back to the saucepan and place it back on medium-high heat until the pudding boils. That’s when you will lower the heat for it to simmer. Here the pudding starts to thicken and become an actual pudding.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat when it thickens enough. For the final touch, add in the vanilla extract for the extra flavor and start pouring the contents in serving cups and cover them with plastic wrap to avoid the formation of skin on top. Chill for 1-2 hours. Enjoy!
