I simply couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy Nadiya’s British Food Adventure. This brand new cookbook is the work of the very talented Nadiya Hussain, winner of series 6 of the Great British Bake Off. Nadiya won over Mary and Paul with her creative flair and use of aromatic spices, this inventive style of cooking shines through her latest book.
Nadiya’s British Food Adventure is a superb collection of 120 new, easy and enticing recipes. The recipes are a creative mix of food influences from Nadiya’s travels around Britain during the filming of the BBC programme that accompanies the book and her also her Bangladeshi heritage.
Before Nadiya sets off for her travels to the Peak District in Episode 2 she bakes these delightful Cherry, Almond and Nutmeg Tarts as homage to the famous Bakewell Tart. I particularly loved the simplicity of this recipe, and they’re certainly something you could have fun baking with the kids. The tarts were so delicious with their nutmeg infused cherry jam filling, we all thought they were simply yummy.
Nadiya like me is a busy mum of three children just like me. After watching her talk about creating an Easy Chicken Tikka Masala recipe whilst on This Morning, I was really keen to give it a go. It proved to be a real winner with my kids and was incredibly easy make too using a cheat ingredient of tomato soup! Since then I’ve also made the one pan Chicken & Chorizo Paella, which we absolutely loved.
There are so many gorgeous recipes in this book, I know that it will be a continuous source of inspiration. The Caramelised White Chocolate & Hazelnut Bundt Cake is definitely on my baking list, I might just bake it for my own birthday! Whilst I’m sure I’ll bake the Sumac & Lemon Thyme Focaccia very soon. I think the Cardamom Banana Drop Scones will definitely be on the breakfast menu during the summer holidays.
